Introducing the beautiful Langdale Estate. A delightful 35-acre estate set in the heart of the secluded Langdale Valley beneath the imposing skyline of the famous Langdale Pikes in the heart of the Lake District.
Today’s visitors to the Langdale Estate are a little different to those who would have visited the original 17th Century woollen mill or latter gunpowder works… however, not wishing to disappoint, here you will now find two charming properties on the one estate; The Langdale Hotel and Brimstone, surrounded by breath-taking views and with all the luxury comforts you could possibly need.
THE LANGDALE HOTEL
The Langdale Hotel must be one of the best 4-star hotels in the Lake District with its great location in the heart of the Lake District National Park complimented by extensive leisure facilities and a choice of two options for eating, drinking and relaxing, Stove Restaurant and Bar and Wainwrights Inn both of which feature local produce and items from the Langdale Estate Smokehouse.
There is a choice of rooms which are laid out in a resort style, Ultimate Rooms are popular for special occasions and with boutique styling and design. The Waterside Rooms get close to the stunning Lakeland landscape with balconies over the cascading Great Langdale Beck and four poster beds with feature art. The Lakeland Signature Rooms take their design influence from the landscape with colours from slate, heather, tarns and a few surprises thrown in with the romantic gothic rooms (it is a romantic place after all).
Langdale offers a range of spa therapies and treatments for relaxing, invigorating or just for pampering … a spa treatment at Langdale is the perfect addition to any stay and are complimented by the great leisure facilities including swimming pool, sauna, hot tub, steam room and gym.
Recently opened, the Stove Bar and Restaurant at Langdale has something for everyone all day and evening merging great indoors and outdoors spaces. Also on site, is Wainwrights’ Inn. A traditional Lakeland Pub offering the finest local ales the area has to offer and a great menu. The bar at Wainwrights’ is always well stocked with some of the best Ales the Lake District, Cumbria and further afield has to offer. You’ll need to keep visiting though as they change them regularly to keep the tastes as up-to-date as possible and offer something new for the regulars.
Things not to be missed at Wainwrights’ are the ‘Beer Bat’ – which gives you the chance to try 3 third pints of the beers & ales on offer, and the ‘Slider’ which includes three mini brioche rolls filled with pit smoked Pulled Pork, pit smoked beef Brisket and a mini Beef Burger… why not combine them both!
“Ridiculously beautiful rooms. The finest hotel room I have ever had the pleasure to stay in this place has got it perfectly right flippin’ heck, it’s something really special. I kid you not, this is top-end, beautiful, gorgeous escape material” jamieoliver.com
Who are we to disagree… Brimstone rooms and suites are divine, combining Lake District luxury with boutique brilliance. As the ‘grown up sister’ of the Langdale Estate, Brimstone is much more suited for couples. Discover a hotel, within a hotel, where influences from the Lake District landscape collide with luxury and indulgence like you have never seen before.
Each room and suite has a bathing experience to spark your passion and excite your senses. Wood burning stoves are in most rooms and mini bars stocked with locally produced beers and spirits are for your sustainable pleasure.
They really don’t want you to lift a finger when you’re here. From complimentary refreshments in the Reading Room including wine, bottled beer, great coffee, fine tea and scrummy snacks all day and all night, to the 24/7 Hosts on hand to meet your every need.
Your Host will park your car, bring in the cases, get the fire started, organise an itinerary of activities, deliver room service or organise time in the spa… you will be scratching your head to think of things to do yourself!
As a Brimstone guest you have access to the spa at Langdale, Wainwrights Inn and Stove restaurant, although there is an exciting new spa heading to Brimstone (arriving Autumn 2016).
If you are looking to explore the best of the natural world on your doorstep but couldn’t quite squeeze everything into the case, then fear not… pop into The Bootroom for a selection of waterproof jackets, trousers, boots and rucksacks to borrow – courtesy of Berghaus – to make sure you are kitted out for any expedition.
